Surprisingly, given it was such a patched up side, it was one of our better performances of the season (if not the best, in the first half) - but with a familiar story of missed chances, soft goals conceded and running out of steam in the last quarter of the game. A mixed bag of a season I think is the best way to describe it. A poor start, hampered massively by lack of availability and horrendous injuries to Paddy, Nick and wee jinking Davy Jenkin - and lots of minor ones eg to me, Timmy Vaughan, Foster, Jones and Eammo. The New Year came and we got some momentum going - helped by good new additions in Timmy and Greg and went on a great run over 7 or 8 games to ensure safety. Then we fell off and, after 2 unfortunate defeats to Meads and HAC respectively, didn't do ourselves justice in 3 of the final 4 games, which all had a very end of season feel to them. However, I think there are lots of positives to come out of the season and we should all look forward with optimism to next season. We've won more than we lost, which is a step in the right direction. We've had good new additions as I mentioned, plus lads coming up from last season's 2s and doing well (eg Crotty and Vaughany) and hopefully both those trends will continue next season. We cant possibly have as bad an injury list next season, so the increased competition for places should keep everyone on their toes. We just need to have that little bit more belief in our own ability and pass the ball better. Plus get fitter. Saturday

Aloysians 2. 1sts Report
from Steve Hair Accies went down to their 4th defeat in 5 matches – a 2-0 loss away to
Parmiterians. An improved display from the 1-0 defeat the week before, but no real cutting edge from an Accies side drifting towards the end of season. The Accies pressed
Parmiterians back throughout most of the game, without ever really making the keeper make a good save, and were beaten by two sucker punches on the break. A real end of season feel to the game (along with the last 2 games really), but the Accies will hope to finish the season on a high note at home to HAC this weekend. |
